About

The Western Isles Transport Preservation Group was formed in 2000 and aims to protect and record the rich and fascinating transport history of the Outer Hebrides. Its main area of interest lies in commercial and plant vehicles that were or are used across the Western Isles, from horse drawn carriages to the present day. Where possible, it aims to restore vehicles of historical importance. The group owns a building which is currently being refurbished and hopes to create a visitor centre.

Collections

As well as a collection of vehicles the Group also has an extensive collection of photographs and information on island vehicles and garages that operated on the islands.
