About
Grimsay Community Association is a heritage and cultural organisation serving the island of Grimsay, a crofting and fishing community located between Benbecula and North Uist in the Outer Hebrides. The Association owns and manages the community heritage and visitor centre at Ceann na h-Àirigh, the former Free Church which was built by the people of Grimsay. Grimsay Community Association regularly hosts workshops, demonstrations, exhibitions, events, talks and ceilidhs, preserving and sharing an authentic and meaningful experience of the Gaelic culture and local heritage.
Grimsay Boat Haven is the Association’s most recent development and the first maritime heritage visitor attraction in the Western Isles. A landmark building, it preserves, displays and interprets exemplars of the Stewart-built Grimsay Boats, a nationally recognised style of clinker-built work boat. The Boat Haven links with the existing Grimsay Boat Trail, a self-guided trail of three important and historic sites around Grimsay.
